Microsoft today unveiled its first preview version of Windows 11. Windows Insiders can download the Windows 11 preview ( build 22000.51) now. The preview lets you access the new Start menu and multitasking capabilities, and a revamped Microsoft Store. The official preview, in contrast to the earlier Windows 11 leak, has an upgraded File Explorer. It replaces the ribbon with a command bar, which makes managing files easier.
The preview will feature the majority of the visual improvements to Windows 11 that Microsoft announced this week. The new build comes with the Start menu, an interface that resembles a launcher and has round corners across. Additionally, there are improvements to the notification center as well as volume flyouts, among other areas. Finally, Windows 11 will include a parallax motion effect if your device has an accelerometer.
The preview also features the new themes for Windows 11 and dark/light mode enhancements, and the new Widgets feature. Microsoft has integrated the new themes of Glow, Captured Motion, and Sunrise with brand new Windows 11 sounds as you utilize it.
But two key Windows 11 features are missing: Microsoft Teams integration (and Android apps for Windows). These features are currently being developed and tested by Microsoft; however, they will be included in the upcoming preview versions.
Microsoft's Snap Layouts and Snap Groups feature are available in the Windows 11 preview. These features allow multitasking across various screen sizes. These Snap features enhance many of the multitasking features that Windows has provided for a long time. Still, they're easier to locate and are more effective when you have multiple monitors.
Microsoft is also making changes to the Settings section of Windows 11. The preview builds include improvements that will make it easier for users to locate the settings they require. The Settings panel now has a left-hand navigation panel that is present throughout the website. It makes it simpler to move between sections. Microsoft has also added the new "heroes" controls at the top of Settings to give each team quick access to settings and options.
